(ah-NAYH-hoh-oh-MAH-loo) Some just call it "A-Bay"
In Hawaiian this means protected bay for mullet fish.
Ringed by coconut palms, with a backdrop of volcanic mountains, 'Anaeho'omalu is one of the most ideal locations for beach activities and canoe paddling on the Big Island. It is the feature attraction of the Waikoloa Beach Resort, where Hilton Waikoloa Village and Waikoloa Beach Marriott are located. A-Bay is also home to the Waikoloa Canoe Club, a non-profit, fully insured outrigger canoe paddling club. Every day our members can be found leaving 'Anaeho'omalu Bay to paddle along the pristine Kohala coastline.
Our members enjoy sharing the Aloha Spirit with our guests and introducing them to the authentic Polynesian sport of outrigger canoe paddling.
Waikoloa Canoe Club provides leisure canoe rides or spirited canoe races for visitors and conventioneers to the Big Island.
We provide a brief history of outrigger canoes in the Hawaiian culture along with instruction and supervision in the skill of canoe paddling. Skilled paddlers in each canoe assist and support our guests.
Our past guests have found their paddling experience with us an exciting and memorable activity, and have greatly appreciated the opportunity to participate in an important part of Hawaii's culture and our state sport!
